Infection control in our office is also very important to us. To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross contamination processes using standards recommended by the Alberta Dental Association and College (ADA & C), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)and Alberta Health Region Infection Prevention & Control.

Instruments are washed, dried and disinfected by a dental instrument washer and disinfector (Hydrim 61W). then sterilized in Bravo Chamber Autoclave. Bowie -Dick test is conducted every morning before the first load to ensure the sterilizer is in good working condition. Biological test (spore test) is done daily to ensure 100% sterilization.

Handpieces that can’t be soaked or washed are wiped with a hospital grade surface disinfectant and are sterilized in Bravo autoclave.

Hard surfaces like countertops and hoses are wiped with a hospital grade surface disinfectant twice so that the debris is removed first, guaranteeing total disinfection.
